Suya
Ingredients: Meat, Ifvenli mixed spice seasoning, (Optional: spices, herbs and vegetables of choice)
Utensil: Optional skewers
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for a minimum of 30 mins. If not using skewers, lay the prepare meat flat on an oven rack.
- Cut the meat into very thin flat slices.
- Place meat on a flat surface like a tray
- Pour the ifvenli spice generously over on both sides of the meat, ensuring total coverage.
- Place slices of the coated meat on each skewer.
- Brush the skewered meat with oil.
- Place them on an oven rack or oven tray brushed with oil to avoid sticking.
- Grill/roast in a 120 degrees C oven until cooked to your choice, on each side.
- Half way through the cooking, flip skewers/meat to the other side to ensure even cooking.
- Sprinkle ifvenli spice on the cooked meat.
- Serve straight or with some vegetables like onions, cabbage.
Style options:
- You can use chicken, fish or vegetables like potatoes in place of meat.
- You can add other spices or herbs in addition to ifvenli spice.
- You can use an oven tray lined baking paper or with aluminium foil brushed with oil.
- You can add other things like sliced onions, tomatoes, peppers, etc. in between each piece of meat before grilling/roasting.
